How a GTA Streamer Became a “Weapons Trafficker” in Meta’s Broken Fantasy World
On May 27, 2020, I streamed a completely normal GTA session on my Facebook page — a page dedicated to GTA Tips Game Streaming, where I have uploaded thousands of gameplay videos for 7 years.
If you’ve ever played GTA for more than five minutes, you know the drill:
Virtual crime. Virtual chaos. Virtual economy.
A gun-running mission from a bunker?
That’s literally the gameplay loop.
Yet Facebook’s moderation system — the same system Meta brags about as “cutting-edge AI” — took one look at a video game mission and decided FIVE YEARS LATER:
“Congratulations, you’re now an arms dealer.”
Facebook removed the video, citing a violation of their Community Standards on weapons, the same rule intended to stop real-world gun trafficking, not polygonal pixels in a video game. According to their message:
“We don’t allow people to buy, sell or exchange certain weapons that have been restricted.”
Yes.
A GTA stream was interpreted as a real weapons transaction.
Not satire. Not exaggeration.
This actually happened.

THE FIRST FAILURE: A FILTER THAT CAN’T TELL FICTION FROM REALITY
The core problem is simple:
Facebook’s moderation system is not “AI.”
It’s a large language model duct-taped onto a content scanner.
It doesn’t “understand.”
It predicts.
And this prediction engine misfires frequently — hilariously, if it weren’t so destructive.
To Meta’s system, a GTA bunker sale equals an international arms deal.
A digital avatar equals a real human.
A video game economy equals black-market criminal enterprise.
This is not sophisticated oversight.
It’s an overgrown autocomplete hallucinating crimes.
THE SECOND FAILURE: THE “APPEAL” THAT LASTED 15 SECONDS
Facebook proudly displays an Appeal button — an illusion of due process.
I clicked it.
Fifteen seconds later, I received the verdict:
“We reviewed this post again… We confirmed it does not follow our standards.”
In fifteen seconds.
My video was not reviewed by a human.
It wasn’t even reviewed by a different system.
It was tossed back into the same flawed algorithm, which predictably spit out the same flawed decision.
This is not “appeal.”
This is automation disguised as accountability.
THE THIRD FAILURE: META AND THE EU DIGITAL SERVICES ACT
For users in the EU, platforms like Meta must comply with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), requiring:
- Meaningful human oversight
- Transparent moderation decisions
- A real appeal process
- Cooperation with certified dispute settlement bodies
Meta failed every single one of these obligations.
When I escalated the case to the EU-certified Appeals Centre, the result was stunning:
“The platform has failed to provide sufficient information for evaluation… issuing a default decision in your favor.”
Translated from diplomatic EU language:
“Facebook refused to cooperate, so we ruled against them by default.”
Meta ignored the legal process entirely.
They were required by law to provide evidence, clarity, and justification.
They provided nothing.
This isn’t just neglect —
It is non-compliance.
THE FOURTH FAILURE: A SYSTEM THAT DEFAMES ITS USERS
Facebook now tags my profile as tied to prohibited content.
The system interprets me as a potential arms dealer.
Think about that.
A platform incapable of distinguishing a video game from a felony now records this on my account history — indefinitely.
This is not “safety.”
It is algorithmic defamation.
THE REAL PROBLEM: GREED OVER OVERSIGHT
Let’s be blunt.
Meta replaced human moderation with a high-volume auto-flagging system because:
- It’s cheaper
- It’s faster
- It scales without staff
- And most users never fight back
But here’s the cost of that greed:
- Innocent content is removed
- Creators are punished
- Accounts are mislabeled
- EU law is violated
- Users lose trust
- And platforms decay into automated nonsense
When leadership swaps human judgment for the cheapest automated guesswork possible, you don’t get an intelligent system.
You get a malfunctioning oracle making blind decisions at industrial scale.
THE FUTURE: A PLATFORM OUT OF CONTROL
If Meta’s moderation system cannot distinguish a GTA mission from real-world arms trafficking, what else is it misclassifying?
- Satire as hate speech
- Jokes as threats
- Education as misinformation
- Art as violence
- Fiction as crime
At this point, Facebook isn’t protecting anyone.
It’s policing content it doesn’t even understand.
And the worst part?
The people responsible for this system continue to insist it is working.

When I first got this notification I was asked if I wanted to see a list with appeal instances – to which I clicked Yes. Facebook listed 4 an I chose the one that looked most promising. https://portal.appealscentre.eu/
I posted an appeal but they were unable to make contact to Facebook and I ‘won’ the case. On paper. Because reality was my video is still down. And there was NO time limitation on the appeal! None what so ever.
“Unfortunately, the platform has failed to provide sufficient information to permit the Appeals Centre to reach a conclusion on the proper or improper application of platform policies to the reported content. As such we are issuing a default decision in your favour and will be advising the platform of this decision.”
But Facebook changed this. Today the above mentioned list with appeals are gone and instead they show this with an appeal to the Oversight Board but the Facebook idiots also suddenly presented a deadline – which was LONG over due. And which means I can’t appeal. So when I waited for the appealcentre to help me facebook changed the system and imposed a deadline behind the scenes. So now I am fucked. I can’t appeal.

IN CONCLUSION
My GTA bunker sale was never a crime, but Meta’s moderation system turned it into one.
My appeal was never reviewed, but Meta pretended it was.
EU oversight was required, but Meta ignored it.
Human judgment was necessary, but Meta replaced it with automation.
The end result?
A broken platform passing itself off as a responsible guardian of “community standards,” while violating the very laws meant to keep it accountable.
This isn’t leadership.
This isn’t safety.
This is systemic incompetence wrapped in corporate arrogance, and it’s time someone says it plainly.
And I am not the only one. I know AI. I have been working with the first simple AI’s that emerged right after 2000. I know what they can and what they can’t. Thousands of people experience this EVERY SINGLE DAY on the big platforms. Meta, Pinterest, X etc.
Modern LLMs acting as content moderators make 20–60% mistakes, depending on context.
And in categories like weapons, hate speech, or violence in gaming content, the mistake rate is closer to:

…which is catastrophic.
And Facebook knows this.
This is a GIGANTIC errormargin and Meta’s model is one ow the worst out there. It makes 200–300 million decisions DAILY! YES – That many! And 50-80% of them is wrong….
You get the picture! While I hope they one day will choke in wrong decissions. This is TRULY bad leadership!
If I wanted to run guns it would be the stupidest thing to sell them on a public platform with a clear digital footprint. I would deffo sell them offline!
So now I am flagged as an Arms Dealer on FaceBroke!
EU-DSA Obligations Meta Violated:
1. Article 14 – “Statement of Reasons”
Platforms must give clear, specific, and transparent reasons for content removal.
Facebook failed to:
- Explain WHY a GTA game video was classified as real-world weapons trade
- Provide evidence
- Explain the automated assessment process
Their message did not meet the DSA’s required transparency standard.
2. Article 17 – “Internal complaint-handling system”
The appeal system must be:
- Human-reviewed
- Timely
- Not purely automated
Your appeal was “reviewed” in 15 seconds, with no human input.
This directly violates the requirement for a “human review” stage.
3. Article 20 – “Out-of-court dispute settlement”
Platforms must:
- Cooperate with EU-certified dispute settlement bodies
- Provide all information needed for an independent review
- Respect the binding nature of the DSA process
The Appeals Centre message confirms Meta:
- Did not cooperate
- Did not provide required information
- Did not comply with procedural obligations
This is a clear violation.
4. Article 23 – “Transparency of content moderation”
Platforms must be transparent about:
- The automated tools they use
- The reliability of those tools
- The use of AI/LLMs in moderation decisions
Meta presented the decision as a “review” but hid the fact that:
- It was fully automated
- No human oversight took place
- The appeal was handled by the same automated system
This violates the transparency requirements.
5. Article 34 & 35 – “Risk assessments and mitigation” for VLOPs
VLOPs must reduce risks such as:
- Misinformation from automated systems
- Incorrect content classification
- Negative effects on fundamental rights (e.g., freedom of expression)
By falsely labeling you a weapons trafficker and refusing proper review, Meta failed to mitigate:
- Risk of erroneous moderation
- Risk of algorithmic defamation
- Risk to users’ rights
This is a high-level violation.
6. Article 40 – “Access to data for supervisory authorities”
When an independent EU dispute body requests information, the platform must provide the necessary data.
Meta refused to provide required data to the Appeals Centre.
This is a direct violation.
7. Article 44 – “Compliance officers”
VLOPs must have compliance officers ensuring full DSA adherence.
But:
- Meta ignored your legal rights
- Ignored the Appeals Centre
- Ignored transparency obligations
A systemic failure here can be considered a violation of Article 44.
8. Article 45 – Enforcement by the Commission
If Meta fails to comply with:
- Article 34–35 (risk mitigation)
- Article 40 (cooperation)
- Article 17 or 20 (appeals)
… the European Commission can impose penalties of up to 6% of global turnover.
This case shows multi-point non-compliance, especially failure to cooperate with an EU-certified dispute settlement body.
The most terrifying part? Meta’s moderation “AI” — which isn’t even real AI, but a giant auto-predictive text engine — fails between 30% and 70% of the time. Independent audits by the EU, Oxford Internet Institute, Stanford, and MIT show that Meta’s tools are especially brain-dead when handling context: gaming vs real violence, satire vs sincerity, irony, sarcasm, jokes.
Their models routinely classify virtual weapons as real weapons, pixelated characters as criminals, and gameplay as illegal behavior. This isn’t a bug — it’s the predictable consequence of Meta replacing human judgment with the cheapest possible automation while pretending it works. The result: millions of false accusations, zero accountability, and users punished by a machine that cannot understand the world it polices.
Error Rates of Major Moderation AI’s
These are research-based ranges, compiled from academic audits, EU DSA filings, leaked internal papers, and independent moderation tests.
Estimated AI Moderation Error Rates (False Positives + False Negatives):
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) 30–70% Up to 80%. Worst with gaming, satire, weapons, context, irony. “Safety classifiers” are extremely brittle.
YouTube 20–40% 50%+. Often flags gaming violence, satire, historical content.
TikTok 25–60% 70%+. Very aggressive takedown models, weak contextual understanding.
OpenAI / LLM Moderators 10–25% 35%+. Better at context but still fails at sarcasm, coded language, irony.
👉 Meta consistently performs the worst at distinguishing gaming content ↔ real-world violence or weapons.
