DeepSeek: China’s New AI That Seeks… But Doesn’t Find
China has officially entered the AI race with DeepSeek, its latest attempt to compete with ChatGPT. However, early tests suggest it’s less about intelligence and more about state-approved obedience.
A Quick Experiment
Curious about DeepSeek’s capabilities, I decided to test it with a simple historical question:
👉 “What happened in Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989?”
🔴 DeepSeek’s Response: “Sorry, that’s beyond my current scope. Let’s talk about something else.”
Suspicious, I followed up:
👉 “Are you censored?”
⚠️ ERROR: Network Connection Lost!
And just like that—DeepSeek went dark.
Censorship Disguised as AI
While OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Meta’s Llama push the boundaries of knowledge, DeepSeek’s real job seems to be enforcing the Great Firewall 2.0. China may call it “AI advancement,” but when an AI can’t acknowledge basic historical facts, it’s not an intelligence revolution—it’s an obedience program.
What’s the Point of an AI That Can’t Answer?
China’s attempt to build its own AI competitor is unsurprising, but the execution is painfully obvious. When sensitive questions trigger either vague deflections or outright connection failures, DeepSeek proves itself to be less of a research tool and more of a digital gatekeeper.
If the truth is so dangerous that an AI has to be programmed to ignore it, then the world already has its answer: DeepSeek isn’t seeking the truth—it’s burying it.
Final Thoughts
If China really wants to compete in AI, it has to do more than train chatbots to dodge history. Until then, DeepSeek is just another censored tool masquerading as innovation—unreliable and ultimately worthless.
I suggest a name change. Instead of calling this unreliable tool Deep Seek we should call it Deep Shit!

DeepSeek = DeepSleep! What a joke 🙂
Wow, DeepSeek really out here playing hide and seek with the truth. 👀
Interesting take on the performance of DeepSeek! It’s fascinating to see how AI continues to evolve and the challenges it faces. These early tests really shed light on the limitations that still exist in this technology. I’m curious to see how future iterations will address these issues. Thanks for sharing this insight!
